How We See Our LA River - Let's Walk the Talk

Enjoy an inspiring discussion and a casual walk along the LA River.

Join members of Biomimicry LA, The Living Future LA Collaborative, and others as we walk a short section of the 51-mile LA River and explore ways we personally and collectively view it: historically, functionally, recreationally, and of course naturally.

Colin Mangham (Biomimicry LA; Living Future LA Collaborative), Debra Scacco (LACI Artists In Residence Program), members of the Living Future LA Collaborative, and other bioinspired advocates will guide our discussion and our steps. Debra will introduce our group to Defining Line: an augmented reality exhibition co-curated with Nancy Baker Cahill.

*Be sure to download the Fourth Wall app using WiFi before you arrive (requires iPhone 6s or above or Android device with ARCore)

We’ll also talk about ways we might keep this and rivers worldwide clear of plastic and other debris that would eventually end up in the ocean, and will gain insights from Marty Meisler (Biomimicry LA), Logan Good (Pratt Institute industrial design Master's candidate), and representatives of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation.

9:30 am - Noon, Sunday, March 17, 2019

PARKING at Griffith Park Recreation Center, 3401 Riverside Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90027
*We will meet there and begin walking over to Sunnynook at 9:45 am where we will talk for a bit before walking. If for some reason the lot is full or otherwise accessible, there is another parking lot for Griffith Park right up the street.

This is a dog-friendly walk, about 1.5 to 2 miles roundtrip on mainly flat ground at a leisurely pace. And it's more of a talk than a walk. :-)
